How a flower subscription actually works
Flower subscriptions have become more common in the last few years, and there's a fair amount of confusion about what they actually involve. This is a plain explanation of how ours works, including the parts that aren't always obvious.
What you get
Each delivery is a hand-tied bunch chosen by Alan based on what's best at the market that week. The size is roughly equivalent to our medium bouquet (ten to fourteen stems), wrapped in kraft paper. You don't choose the flowers in advance, which is the point: the selection is based on what's genuinely at its best, not what's been sitting in a warehouse.
Subscribers get first pick of anything unusual or limited that comes in. If there's a variety we only have a small amount of, it goes to subscribers before it goes on the general shop floor.
Delivery and billing
Deliveries happen on a fixed day each week, chosen when you sign up. We deliver Tuesday through Saturday within our 5 km radius. Billing is monthly, charged at the start of each month. The weekly rate is ¥4,000, the fortnightly rate is ¥3,600 per delivery.
Pausing and cancelling
You can pause or cancel with seven days' notice before your next scheduled delivery. There's no minimum term and no cancellation fee. If you cancel mid-month, we refund the unused deliveries. We don't make this difficult because we'd rather you come back after a break than feel trapped.
A lot of subscribers pause over the Christmas period when they're travelling and restart in January. That's completely fine.
If you're on the fence, the easiest thing is to try it for a month and see whether it fits into your week.
